Latest Developments 🌍
South Park Episode Created using AI: The Simulation has introduced an approach for creating high-quality episodic content for Intellectual Property using LLMs, custom diffusion models, and multi-agent simulations for contextualization, story progression, and behavioral control.
GPT-4 serves as the main driver to create and extrapolate the scenes and dialogue based on the input it receives from both the user and the simulation.AppleGPT/iGPT: Apple has reportedly been working on its own internal "Apple GPT" AI tool, being used for prototyping products and summarizing text for staff. The company has developed an in-house framework called 'Ajax' to build LLMs and go full speed on generative AI products.
Assembly AI’s new ASR Model: Conformer 2 is the latest AI model for automatic speech recognition, trained on 1.1 million hours of English audio data. The model enhances recognition of proper nouns, alphanumerics, and noise robustness. 55% faster than Conformer 1, it brings down the transcription time of an hour-long audio file from 4.01 minutes to 1.85 minutes.
No, We Were Not Hallucinating, it’s OpenAI: Study reveals significant worsening of GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 performance, while evaluating on various math problems, sensitive/dangerous QA, code tasks, and visual reasoning tasks. Here are some observations:
GPT-4’s accuracy worsened from 97.6% in March 2023 to 2.4% in June 2023 in identifying prime numbers. GPT 3.5 showed improvement in the same task.
GPT-4 became less open to responding to sensitive questions.
The number of directly executable code generations declined for both models.
The output did not change from March to June for about 90% of the visual reasoning queries.
Level Up Your LLM Apps: LangChain has developed LangSmith, a unified platform for developers to debug, test, evaluate, and monitor their LLM applications. Currently in closed beta.
Riding the Llama 2 Wave: Scale AI released the following:
LLM Engine, Scale AI’s library for hosting and fine-tuning LLMs, is now open-sourced
A cookbook for fine-tuning Llama 2 in 5 minutes
A platform for enterprises to build and fine-tune custom LLMs using Scale Data Engine
McKinsey & Cohere Join Hands: Consultancy giant McKinsey partners with Cohere to offer AI solutions to its enterprise clients for improving customer engagement, workflow automation, and internal efficiency.
Change Background with Words: Google is testing AI-generated video backgrounds using text prompts for Google Meet in its Workspace Labs.
Generative AI is Not All Losses: With Microsoft announcing $30 per month price tag on its Microsoft 365 copilot, the stock shot up 4% yesterday, touching its all-time high during the trading session.
Booming AI in EdTech: Language learning platform Preply raised $70M in Series C, doubling down on AI to scale and enhance the learning experience with human tutors.
K-Pop to World Pop: K-pop's largest music label, HYBE, plans to use AI to break the language barrier by blending a South Korean singer's voice with native speakers in six languages.
Opensource Not for Everyone: While Meta announced Llama 2 will be available for free for commercial use, a closer examination of its community license agreement reveals that companies with 700 million or more monthly active users are required to obtain a license from Meta.
GPT-4 Message Limit Doubled: OpenAI has doubled the message limit for using GPT-4, from 25 messages to 50 every 3 hours. Plugin developers have been given access of upto 200 messages every 3 hours due to testing needs.
