Fashion Meets AI: AI Pin at Paris Fashion Week👗
In a surprising fashion forward twist merging fashion with AI, Humane’s long-anticipated “AI-Pin” finally made its debut at the Paris Fashion Week.
The AI Pin is a screenless standalone clothing-based wearable device equipped with various sensors to seamlessly integrate into users' daily lives. Humane suggests that users may not need to carry their smartphones, similar to LTE-enabled smartwatches.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell made headlines by showcasing the AI Pin at Paris Fashion Week, marking the first public appearance of this screenless device.
Humane has collaborated with OpenAI on the AI aspect of Humane’s product.
Meta’s Multimodal Model of the Future 🔮
Researchers at Meta introduce AnyMAL, a unified model capable of processing various input modality signals such as text, image, video, audio, and IMU motion sensor data, and generate textual responses by aligning these different modalities.
Key Highlights:
AnyMAL builds upon the strengths of LLMs like LLaMA 2 70B to leverage their text-based reasoning abilities.
To enhance its multimodal capabilities, AnyMAL is fine-tuned with a manually collected multimodal instruction set, which covers a wide range of topics and tasks beyond simple question-answering.
The best model achieves strong zero-shot performance across various tasks like visual QA, image and audio captioning, compared to existing SOTA models.
Llama 2 Long Surpasses GPT 3.5 Turbo 🦒
Researchers at Meta introduce a series of Llama 2 Long models, which are scaled to support effective context windows of up to 32,768 tokens, using a novel approach to achieve superior performance surpassing both Llama 2 and GPT-3.5 Turbo across various tasks.
Key Highlights:
The model's development hinges on continual pretraining, optimizing positional encoding, and data mix exploration, enabling it to effectively process longer context sequences with minimal computational overhead.
Unlike traditional annotation-heavy methods, the model achieves impressive results through a cost-effective approach that leverages a large short-prompt dataset augmented with synthetic self-instructed long data.
Outperforming Llama 2 and GPT-3.5 16k, the new model shines in both short and long-context tasks, excelling in coding, mathematics, and knowledge-intensive challenges.
ChatGPT Custom Instructions in Bard also 🧠
Google's Bard is getting a new "Memory" feature that allows it to remember and adapt to specific details and preferences shared by users in conversations, enhancing personalization and convenience. Users can add and delete memories, and toggle off the feature for privacy.
Google is also introducing Google-Extended, a control for web publishers to manage whether their sites’ data can be used to train AI models.
