Latest Developments 🌍
AlterEgo 🧠
Imagine a world where you can communicate with machines and other people just by thinking. This is where AlterEgo steps in, a wearable device that picks up your internal word articulation—no voice or movement needed. It's like talking to yourself, but this conversation can be heard by AI. And the best part? It talks back, through audio that only you can hear, without interrupting your daily activities.
Big Tech’s AI Safety Plan 🏁
On Friday, seven big names in AI, including Amazon, Google, and OpenAI, got together at the White House. They made a promise to the Biden administration to make their AI systems safer and more secure. This includes making sure people can tell if something was created by an AI. President Biden was excited about this, saying that AI is going to change the world, and it's important to make sure it's done safely. The companies plan to put more money into safety research, have their systems tested for security, and let third parties check for any weak spots.
Stability AI’s OpenSource LLMs 🔓
Stability AI just launched two Opensource LLMs:
Freewilly 1: Fine-tuned on Llama65B model on an Orca style Dataset.
Freewilly 2: Fine-tuned on Llama-v2 70B model on an Orca style Dataset.
Both of them beat ChatGPT in multiple benchmarking tasks despite their small size!
NYC Subway Uses AI to Spot Fare Evaders 🚊
Riding the NYC subway without paying might soon be a thing of the past. With fare evasion bleeding $285 million from its coffers in 2022, the MTA has upped its game, deploying AI surveillance software in a bid to catch ticket dodgers. The software, designed by Spanish AI firm AWAAIT, is currently operational in select stations, with plans to roll it out further. It can spot a fare evader and instantly alert station agents, making free rides a lot trickier.
